We were stunned at the sight of ‘whole’ mountains being razored down to ground zero and in some cases the miners had dug well beyond 150 feet! Subrotto Dutta, activist, explained to us, “More than 50% of the mining is illegal, this means huge resources are being lost and government doesn’t even get a pie of it, besides the environment gets damaged!”
